offi-hyväntekeväisyyttä

Tuli tommonen kisakutsu. Hyväntekeväisyyttä luonnon puolesta. Se joka ajaa lyhimmän reitin voittaa. Osallistumis maksu on noin 170 eureli toi milli paikallista valuuttaa. Tuossa on vielä linkki Keniassa käydystä kisasta. http://teamcar30.50webs.com
Tästä Lusakasta kisapaikalle 80 kilsaa jonka ajamiseen menee 2-3 tuntia, on upeet vuorten ylitykset. Pudotusta 700 metriä. Lower Zambesi on makea paikka ku siellä vilisee noita elukoita. Elefantteja paljon ja muutama iso leijonalauma joten kisasta tulee jännä.

Dear Friends

We are writing to you with regards to a Zambian initiative that we are coordinating to raise significant sponsorship, both corporate and private, for wildlife projects in Zambia. Behind this initiative is our passion for Zambia, its preservation and enhancement of the integrity of Zambia’s wildlife resources, and the knowledge that together we can make a significant difference.

Our vision is:
• To hold an annual event called the ELEPHANT CHARGE (based on the Kenyan Rhino Charge concept), where the winner is the vehicle that negotiates a set course in the shortest distance within a maximum time period.
• The event to be organized so as to maximize sponsorships and value for corporate advertising.

ELEPHANT CHARGE is registered in Zambia, and the main fundraiser is the annual Elephant Charge. The inaugural event is to be held on week-end of Sat 8th and Sun 9th November 2008. Each team, consists of either a 4x4 vehicle and up to 6 team members (driver, navigator, and up to 4 runners), or min 3/max 4 motorbikes/quads. They will be driving and dragging their 4x4/motorbikes through the African bush, building roads with their bare hands and steering their vehicles/motorbikes up and down ridiculous inclines in an attempt to get around the 20-30km course in the shortest distance possible, in competition with up to 40 other teams. It will undoubtedly be great fun, will engender a fantastic team spirit and generate a huge feeling of accomplishment when the day is done, both in terms of funds raised and bush conquered. The course is set such that teams are able to follow a bush track should they want to, and the straighter you dare to go the more intimidating it will be!

Teams are asked to meet at Mukumunya Monkey Pools (the end of the tarmac on Leopard’s Hill rd, Lusaka) at 8 a.m. on Saturday 8th November 2008. There they will complete registration formalities, and be given directions to reach THE CHARGE Head Quarters. This is approximately 80km from Mukumunya and a 2 ½ hr drive. There is a designated area on a spring in the beautiful foot-hills of the Lower Zambezi, where teams can set up camp for the night. At 5 p.m. Saturday, teams will be given a map with the co-ordinates of the check-points to be completed during the race, and so have the evening to plan exactly how you are going to tackle the course (a very well stocked bar will be provided). Teams will assemble at 6.30 a.m. Sunday and be escorted by officials to their starting check-point. The race starts at 7 a.m. and teams have until 1 p.m. to check-in at all check-points. It is compulsory for every team to have a Garmin GPS (which are available at Manda Hill). Prize giving will be at 3 p.m. allowing time to return to Lusaka by nightfall, should you need or want to.

The point of all this, is to ultimately develop a structure in Zambia that can make a significant difference in some remarkable wildlife projects existing in Zambia, that all require support and resourcefulness from private enterprise as much as from public enterprise, to ensure the long term integrity of Zambia’s amazing wildlife resource and heritage.

We look forward to your support, knowing that each and every contribution is important to assist in wildlife resource development in our region, and trust that you will partner this endeavor, and thank you sincerely for any support that you feel able to give.

Please contact any of the following if you would like to enter a team (Kw 1,000,000 per team), sponsor a team, sponsor one of the 9 check-points, sponsor a trophy, or be an official. Payments by cheque are to be made out to ELEPHANT CHARGE.

CAR 30 including Peter Castle, Mikey Fleming and Tom Younger from Zambia, came 5th out of 60 in the recent Kenyan Rhino Charge in June 2008. There is a great film about CAR 30’s 2006 Rhino Charge’s adventures at http://teamcar30.50webs.com
