ERNA Trophy 2005 OFFICIAL INFORMATION

• Registration: Will take place at official website of EAL 4x4 subcommittee http://eal.4x4.ee/
Starts will take place from 18.00 at mandate (starts order will be determined with draw) with 5 minute interval - first original, then standard and then special.

1. GENERAL RULES

1.1 Official name of competition is "Maasurite Rännak ERNA 2005", " ERNA Trophy 2005".
1.2 The competition will be organized by MTÜ SÕJALIS-SPORTLIK SELTS "ERNA" and MTÜ Eesti Off-Road Klubi with friendly co-operation hobbyist..
1.3 Cup competitions:
"ERNA Trophy 2005" is Estonian 4X4 National Cup competition and Baltic Cup third competition.
Vehicles what participate in Baltic Cup must apply to technical rules specified in Baltic Cup regulations.
1.4 Information about competition can be found in Internet at address www.4x4offroad.ee
1.5 Officials of the competition:
Jury - The jury is put together by Maasturiklubide Liit.
Main organizer- Rein Pinn, Meelis Rätsep
Track master - Aleksander Suur, Rein Pinn and many other nice off-road people.
Main judge - Valeri Morozov
Head of technical committee - Marek???

3. TIME TABLE

3.1 Guide of the competition will be published at latest 26.07.2005 in the Internet.
3.2 All classes
19.08.2005..
at 14.00 mandate and technical inspection will be opened
at 17.30 competitors registration and technical inspection will end
at 17.45 the opening of the competition, instructions and track info
at 18.00 beginning of the starts from KUUSALU
at 19.00 first car will start the first special stage
21.08.2005.
at 02.00 finish will be closed
at 09.30 first results
at 10.00 award ceremony and end of competition

4. TERMS OF PARTICIPATION

4.1 Competitors must have valid driving license and valid health insurance.
4.2 Competitors must follow all laws and rules set by Estonian Government.
4.3 All competitors will be on track on their own responsibility.
4.4 The organizer of competition will not take responsibility about mental and material damage dealt by teams to themselves or to third party.
4.5 Competitors are obligated to install ads given by organizer on competing cars. The competitor who refuses to do so must pay the fine two times participation fees.
4.6 All competition cars must have competition numbers at both (front doors) sides.
4.7.1 Competitors who already have competition numbers do not have to change them but they have to write it down to the registration form.
4.7.2 Participants whose cars do not have competition numbers must paint or paste clear and understandable temporary numbers to car, what will be told in start. Participants must make sure that their car has competitor numbers.

5. COMPETITION CAR AND TEAM

5.1 Cars will be divided into classes by the technical terms of this manual.Vehicles what participate in Baltic Cup must apply to technical rules specified in Baltic Cup regulations.
5.1.1 General terms - register mass of the car: 500kg-3500kg
Car must have 4-wheel drive..
Car must have 4 wheels.
The car must have moorings for lifting and pulling in front and back. These must be strong enough to lift full car from one end. Mooring must be marked with contrast color (red, yellow, orange). Team must have towing rope with them, that allows to pull or lift the car. Car seats must be fastened tight. The corks of liquid tanks must be liquid proof. Tires: pneumatic.
There must be no loose equipment in car.
The mobile parts of a transmission must be outside the car cabin. Pipes, tanks and other parts of car that contain hot liquids must be protected. Fuel tanks must be separated from passengers room with fireproof wall.
5.1.2 Safety - It is advisable that there must be same number of official car racing helmets to the heads that sit in the car.
Fire extinguisher: 2 X 2kg powder extinguisher with pressure indicator. Extinguishers must be fastened tight.
3-point safety belts, recommended 4-point safety belts.
5.1.3 Original - Maximum wheel diameter is 820 mm (pressure 1,5 atm).
5.1.4 Standard - Maximum wheel diameter is 915 mm (pressure 1,5 atm). In case of soft roof top, car must have 4-point safety bar.
5.1.5 Special - Maximum wheel diameter is not limited. In case of soft roof top, car must have 4-point safety bar.
5.2 There must be no more members in team than decent, 3-point safety belt, equipped seats in the car. Team members must be older than 16, but not older than 100 years.

6. REGISTATION AND PARTICIPATION FEES

6.1 Registration will take place at EAL 4x4 sub committee homepage http://eal.4x4.ee/ (by way of exception 19.08.2005 at start of competition in Kuusalus at 12.00-13.00, in that case no fee cuts will be made).
6.2 Participation fee is 2500.-EEK (to members of Eesti Offroad Klubi - 50%).
6.3 Participation fee must be paid latest at 17.08.2005 to MTÜ SÕJALIS-SPORTLIK SELTS "ERNA" bank account 22 1002 161 881 in Hansapank. Or in cash to Rein Pinn or Meelis Rätsep. Team will be registered after the payment has been received.

7. COURSE OF COMPETITION

The competition contains 5 special stage for original and 4 special stage for standard and special.

1. Special stage - original, standard and special - short orienteering in quarry. Time 2 hours.
Stage will contain orienteering on heavy landscapes with searching for the checkpoints and taking pictures of found points.

Team must find as many checkpoints as possible in free order by car. The checkpoints will be marked on a map which will be given to teams at start. The best result will be achieved by the team who finds more points than other teams in shortest time. Points will be accounted, but in the case of two or more teams having same amount of points, the time will be taken into account. In all classes, only checkpoints took by car, will count.

There will be 20 checkpoints on stage for every class. Every class will have next class checkpoints in case the team has taken ALL own class checkpoints (original will have standard checkpoints; standard special and special will take standard checkpoints).
For every OWN CLASS checkpoint taken, the team will receive +4 points. Every missed OWN CLASS checkpoint will give - 2 points to team. Every next class checkpoint will give + 1 and every missed 0 points.

2. Special stage - original - night orienteering by the legend. Time 1,5 hours.
Teams must drive according to legend which will have marked distances and turns.
At given special stage average speed given in legend must be kept.

2. Special stage - standard and special - Time 19 hours..
First part of the stage must be followed by track marked at the legend. In second part, teams must find as many checkpoints as possible in free order. The checkpoints will be on legend given to the teams at start. The best result will be achieved by the team who finds more points than other teams in shortest time. Points will be accounted, but in the case of two or more teams having same amount of points, the time will be taken into account. In all classes, only checkpoints took by car, will count.
There will be 30 checkpoints on track.
Every class will have next class checkpoints in case the team has taken ALL own class checkpoints (original will have standard checkpoints; standard special and special will take standard points). Score keeping will be same as in the first special stage.


3. Special stage - original - orienteering. Time 17 hours.
Stage will contain orienteering on heavy landscapes with searching for the checkpoints and taking pictures of find points.
Teams must find as many checkpoints as possible in free order. The checkpoints will be on legend given to the teams at start. The best result will be achieved by the team who finds more points than other teams in shortest time. Points will be accounted, but in the case of two or more teams having same amount of points, the time will be taken into account. Only checkpoints took by car, will count.
There will be 30 checkpoints on track.
Every class will have next class checkpoints in case the team has taken ALL own class checkpoints (original will have standard checkpoints; standard special and special will take standard points). Score keeping will be same as in the first special stage.


4. Special stage - original, standard and special - autocross with shooting from the car. Time 5 min.
There will be targets to shoot along the side of track.These must be shot while moving. The speed of covering the track and how many targets were shooed will be taken into account. Every hit target will give minus time.

5. Special stage - original, standard and special - cross. Time around 1 hour.
There is a calculated number of laps that will cover approximately 1 hour. The time covering these laps will be taken into account. The cars will start with 5 minure interval and at the time there will be 10-15 cars on track. Helmet is mandatory at that special stage.

General.

All teams will recive a legend and control sheet at start.. Judges will mark to sheet special stages start and finish times and times when teams were at manned checkpoint. Other judges on special stages may also make notes to the control sheet.
It is possible to get the coordinate part of the legend in the electronic form (APS, OZI Explorer)..
The driving trough the checkpoints will be fixed only by photo.
There is possibility of manned checkpoints, where the time of driving trough will be marked to the control sheet. These possible positions will be marked at the map.


Photo, double photo and equipment..
Photos have to be made by digital photo camera owned by the team to the memory card in JPEG format (minimum resolution of 1024x768 pixels).

The digital camera(s) used by competitors must be able to take photos at every possible weather condition and make sure that all required parts of photograph are clear and identifiable at every possible weather condition. The date and time of camera must be set according local time.

Teams must deliver memory card to the judges after finish without modifying the contents of the card or downloading pictures to the PC. If there is a doubt of modifications, the photo(s) will not be accounted.
It is advisable to make double photo with digital camera.
It is admissive to take double photo at different angle or position.
The mandatory and double photos will deliver to the judge right after finish. Photos delivered later will not be taken into account.

Content of photos. At photo taken to account must be clearly on the same frame:
The board with clear and understandable number of checkpoint.
The competition car with clear and understandable competition or registration number.
One team member who is touching the checkpoint board with one hand, without covering it and the car or equipment, mounted to the car permanently with other hand. The car doors may be open. The equipment that will tact over 1 meter from car will not count (winch ropes, antennas etc.) The team member must be recognizable as the hands that touch the board and the car.
The requirements for double photo are the same.

It is forbidden to use outside help during the competition while the vehicle is moving on the track.
(It is allowed to use help form fellow competitors and also the help provided by car services expect tow).

8. RESULTS COUNT
8.1 In all special stages the score will be calculated to sort out the order of best teams, according to this order the place points will be given what eventually will be multiplied by special stage coefficient.
In case of equal points the team with higher special stage score will be in leading position.
If that will not solve the problem then the team who achieved best special stage result earlier is in leading position.

9. PROTESTATIONS
9.1 Participators may present a written form protestation to main judge in 30 minutes after the first results. Protestation fee is 2500 EEK and it will be paid at handing in the protestation. The fee will be returned partly only if the protestation will be solved in favor of protestant.

10. NOTICES AND MISC.
10.1 Official notes will be published at www.4x4offroad.ee or at competition site.
10.2 Organizer will have right to change time, place, timetable and competition course.
10.3 Organizer will have right to remove and cancel the results of participants who do not follow current manual, displays drunken or unsportmanship or impolite or disrespectful behavior.
10.4 All facts and problems that might occur and are not described in this manual will be dealt by jury.

11. PRIZES
11.1 The end of competition and awarding competitors will take place at 21.08.2005 around 10.00 o’clock.
11.2 Three best from every class will be rewarded.
11.3 Rewarded teams must show up to ceremony. If they miss, they will lose the right to the prizes.
